(Hence the name.)   Anyway, here we have a black potch bead with a gorgeous Aussie Opal inlay. Potch is a common opal with no colour. It varies from black to milk white to greenish, yellowish or bluish in colour. Potch has no real value in itself, its value comes from the effect it has on the colours above it.     The bead is mounted into a decorative Sterling Silver surround (not stuck in with glue). The whole thing sits on a delicate woven wire "shape" which is decorated with Sterling Silver balls and unusual shapes.  There are no sharp edges on this piece.
